Carer Gateway provides practical advice and support for carers

Australia’s 2.7 million unpaid carers will have access to greater supports from 6 April 2020, with the introduction of the new Carer Gateway support service.

Anyone can become a carer at any time - through the birth of a child who has special needs, as a result of a loved-one’s accident or illness, if someone close to you has an addiction or a long-term health condition, and sometimes because the people we love simply get older. Whatever your circumstance, Carer Gateway is there to support you.

  • South Eastern NSW
  • Western NSW
  • Murrumbidgee

Services for carers available through the Carer Gateway:

  • Help and advice
  • Carer support
  • Taking a break (respite)
  • Financial help

Current services:

Carers can continue to access support through their current service providers until the Carer Gateway launches on 6th April 2020. It is important to note that carers registered with the Commonwealth Carer Respite Centre (CCRC) are not automatically transferred to the Carer Gateway. Carers will need to call Carer Gateway on 1800 422 737 to register on or after 6 April.
