LiveBetter’s On Demand Public Transport service to continue in Far West New South Wales
The On Demand Public Transport service has been made permanent, providing the Burren Junction and Wee Waa towns with more options and solving transport barriers across LiveBetter’s footprint.
On demand means customers living in these communities can access public transport close to home, getting them to appointments and commitments in a flexible, convenient and safe way.
The LiveBetter Collarenebri to Narrabri service, which has been a pilot for the past three years, will add two additional stops in Burren Junction and Wee Waa. This will allow people in these communities to easily access health and social services, shops, educational facilities, and popular destinations.
LiveBetter CEO Natalie Forsyth-Stock has welcomed the announcement,
“These are services that provide essential connections for our rural and regional communities.
“Many people living regionally experience transport disadvantage which means they don’t have access to a car, a license or public transport. This is a big issue in rural communities who are usually isolated in the first place, so we are thrilled to partner with the NSW State Government in filling this gap.
“Often, extended families will use our service to attend a funeral. Sometimes it will be a young person who is trying to socialise with friends and other times we are helping people attend specialist appointments. There’s a whole range of reasons people need the service,” Natalie explained.
Since the pilot program began in 2019 over 1,600 trips have been taken, and many more to come!
The LiveBetter On Demand service runs fortnightly every Thursday between Ivanhoe and Hay and fortnightly every Friday between Collarenabri and Narrabri.
