Our beginnings

LiveBetter was established as the Orange Community Resource Centre (OCRO) by a group of socially active Orange residents during a climate of uncertainty about the future direction of community services in their local community. For the first 10 years the organisation served as a vehicle for community development activities, working with all levels of Government and other community groups to identify community needs and attract and arrange funding and other resources. OCRO then provided corporate and administrative support to the resultant programs and services which operated relatively independently. Nyngan, Parkes and Wagga Wagga, the organisation is now positioned as one of the largest regionally-based providers of community services in regional NSW.



Community focus

LiveBetter shifted its focus in the late 1990’s and became more directly involved in the delivery of community services and programs in response to government outsourcing. The organisation grew steadily during the period leading up to 2005 and was by this time operating numerous outreach and brokerage services across the Central West.





Our growth

LiveBetter entered a sustained period of rapid expansion and diversification during which a number of independent community-based organisations merged with the organisation. These organisations joined LiveBetter in order to obtain access to LiveBetter’s relatively sophisticated governance and management infrastructure and systems whilst retaining control over matters of local service delivery. Since this time LiveBetter has built upon its strong reputation for reliable, innovative and responsive service delivery and has achieved great success in many government tenders for disability, aged care, carer support, and child and family services.



Community focus

In 2014 LiveBetter celebrated 30 years of community service in the Central West, Orana Far West and Riverina Murray. LiveBetter joined with Yarrabin Outreach in Nyngan and Bourke and the Wagga Wagga Community Resource Centre to continue the provision of key services in these areas.





Strategic Plan

2015 saw the development of the 2015-2020 strategic plan which defines the priorities for LiveBetter during a time of major reform in the community services sector.



Our New Brand

LiveBetter was formed in 2017 from a group of like-minded organisations including CareWest, Excelcare, Age Concern, Family Link, There4U, Broken Hill HACC and Disability Services, and Translinc. No longer just providing services west of the Great Dividing Range, the organisation has grown in both geographic spread and the range of services delivered.  Therefore we needed a new brand that accurately reflected what we as an organisation do and one that would be relevant in the future. LiveBetter now operates in over the 40 regions across New South Wales and Queensland, with all clinical staff, managers and support workers living and working locally. We are excited about what the future has in store for not only our organisation but for best practice service delivery for our customers, their families, and regional communities.
