School-based Traineeships
School-based Traineeships are a great way to prepare for life after school if you want to work in community services. It’s also an opportunity to gain real world experience and discover if this is the industry for you.
This traineeship is available to young people who are completing their senior years of high school (years 11 and 12). You will work with us 1 day a week; for the other 4 days you will attend school normally, with time allotted for you to focus on your traineeship study.
School-based traineeships last for a total of 24 months, with a minimum of 760 hours of on-the-job training during that period. You will be paired up with a buddy to help you learn on the job, and be supervised at all times in a supportive environment.
Will I be paid?
You will be paid a trainee wage for the 1 day a week of work you complete. This involves entering into a contract of employment with LiveBetter, as well as a trainee contract.
What qualification will I receive?
Those who finish a School-based Traineeship with achieve a Certificate III qualification in Individual Support Disability. This means you will be employment ready at the end of year 12, or use your traineeship as a stepping stone into further study or training.

School-leaver Traineeships
School-leaver Traineeships are a fantastic stepping stone for young people in their final year of school who have a passion for working in aged care, disability or a community services organisation.
We offer School-leaver Traineeships across our NSW geographic footprint, depending on the capacity of our service teams.
Taking place in the year after your final year of high school, it can be either full time or part time and lasts for 12 months. Depending on your location, we offer traineeships in both aged and disability care or other areas of the organisation, such as business administration, Early Childhood or IT. You will work alongside a buddy with full-time supervision in a supportive environment.
School-leaver Traineeships combine on the job experience with formal study/training at a Registered Training Provider (RTO) such as TAFE.
Will I be paid?
You will be paid on a trainee wage and are supervised at all times. This involves entering into a contract of employment and a government-regulated trainee contract with LiveBetter.
What qualification will I receive?
Those who finish the School-leaver Traineeship with achieve a Certificate III qualification in the area you choose. Plus, you can use this a stepping stone into further study, if you choose!
