LiveBetter’s key to unlocking opportunities for people living with disability in regional NSW

It's official! The keys to Dubbo's Queen St villas have been handed over!

After eighteen months of planning and construction, and a $2.2 million investment, the keys to Dubbo’s new Queen St villas have been officially handed over from Langford Regional to LiveBetter; paving the way for residents to move in and transform the newly built villas into their homes.

With the Dubbo sun shining bright, Ryan Medley, Managing Director of Langford Regional, was joined by his family, trusted building and construction team, members of the LiveBetter Board and Executive, representatives from Dubbo Regional Council, and many of the new residents, to celebrate the completion of this innovative construction project.

LiveBetter CEO, Natalie Forsyth-Stock highlighted how strong partnerships, such as the one between LiveBetter and Langford Regional are crucial to increasing opportunities for people living with disability across regional Australia.

“When community need, imagination, innovation and determination are brought together, this is the result… these villas are the absolute epitome of what it means to be supported to live an independent life, both in your own home and in the community. They are in the brick-and-mortar manifestation of our organisation’s goal to support people to live better lives.”

This 10-unit, single story complex will support people living with disability to live a truly independent life – both at home and in the community. From his experiences as a young, community-minded man living with disability, Ryan specifically chose the Queen St block primarily to give its residents access to public transport, job opportunities and social activities saying, “the central location, means the residents can get around town without needing someone to drive them around. This opens up so many options and freedomes for the people living there.”

Residents begin moving in over the next few weeks and Ryan’s final message was to them.

“I hope that by living here, you can hold down a job, hang out with your mates, watch a movie, head to the pub and do what you want to do. For us, our main motivation was ensuring that you all live the independent life that you want to lead.”
