Love Me As I Am is part of a thought-provoking four-part documentary series on SBS that explores the life-changing milestones of everyday Australians.
The hour-long film follows six young Australians with intellectual and learning disabilities as they embark on a quest for love and romance, culminating in a trip to Orange NSW to attend the LiveBetter Debutante Ball held in November 2018.
Despite their many differences and unique challenges, what unites these young people is their determined belief that they, like every other Australian, have the right to love and be loved for who they are. Helping them in this quest is straight-talking dating coach, Liz Dore, whose mission is to break the taboos that still surround love and relationships for people with a disability.
