Volunteer Week 2025

LiveBetter says thank you to the volunteers who bind our communities together.
16th May 2025

Running from 19 to 25 May 2025, National Volunteer Week offers us the opportunity to recognise and thank the volunteers who contribute their time, skills, and experience to support others and strengthen their communities.

This year’s theme, ‘Connecting Communities’, celebrates the power volunteering has to bring people together and invites us all to consider giving volunteering a go, because for as little as one hour each week, you can make a real difference in someone’s life.

At LiveBetter, we currently have a team of 150 dedicated volunteers across regional New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, and these volunteers are essential to the work we do serving our communities.

“On behalf of LiveBetter, I would like to thank every one of our amazing volunteers,” said LiveBetter CEO Natalie Forsyth-Stock.

“Whether it’s providing transport to someone who can no longer drive, lending a hand at one of our preschools, or simply offering support to someone in need, the generosity of our volunteers makes a profound difference in the lives of those regional Australians we support every single day.”

According to Volunteering Australia, there are over 6 million volunteers across Australia. Their reasons for volunteering are varied, but those most often cited are to help others, for personal satisfaction and to do something worthwhile.

John Power has been a volunteer Community Transport driver with LiveBetter for nine years, and drives vulnerable community members to appointments and activities, offering both his time and a friendly chat.

“It’s a pleasure to volunteer,” John says. “I find it interesting because I meet so many people I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Volunteering with LiveBetter is a joy.”
Volunteers like John are an integral part of the LiveBetter community. By sharing their time and their expertise, they are making a profound difference in people’s lives.

Their work truly binds our communities together.

LiveBetter roving reporter Justin Omrod caught up with some of our Community Transport volunteers to learn more about their work. You can watch the video below.

LiveBetter currently has volunteer opportunities in Orange, as well as volunteer driver opportunities in Lithgow, Cowra, Lightning Ridge and Balranald.

But no matter where you’re located or what skills you have to share, if you’re considering becoming a volunteer, there’s always a place for you at LiveBetter.
