Aboriginal Families as Teachers is a fun and FREE program for Aboriginal families that supports learning in the early years (0-5 years) before school.

Weekly playgroups

When you join Aboriginal Families as Teachers in Orange, Parkes, or Dubbo, you’ll have the opportunity to join in weekly playgroups, meet with other families, learn about your child's development, and connect with other services and activities in your community.

Play and learn together

As you learn and play together, your child will develop literacy, numeracy, and physical skills, grow in confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Children’s earliest and most powerful learning comes from their family.  Aboriginal Families as Teachers offers families the opportunity to learn more about their child’s development and take an active role in their early education.

How much does Aboriginal Families as Teachers cost?

Aboriginal Families as Teachers is a free program, and there are no fees or charges.

Am I eligible for Aboriginal Families as Teachers?

Aboriginal families who live in Orange, Parkes or Dubbo, and have a child aged 0 – 5 years are eligible to access the program.

Program Benefits

Aboriginal Families as Children will:

  • support your child’s early education
  • provide positive cultural connections
  • promote language, listening and numeracy skills, and
  • build your child’s self-esteem and confidence.

How it works

Each week, you’ll join in weekly playgroups, meet with other families, learn about your child’s development, and connect with services and activities in your community.
