We’re thrilled to announce that funding for Monto Neighbourhood Centre has been renewed.
Monto is a quiet rural town located 500 km Northwest of Brisbane, and 200 km west of Bundaberg – several hour’s drive from the nearest regional centre.
The neighbourhood centre, funded by Queensland’s Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities, and the Arts, provides vital support, guidance, and assistance to the local communities.
“Many people in our communities are from a low socioeconomic demographic,” said Ms Redgard. They’re workers, but their income is low. They live two hours from real services. We help connect them with the information and support they need.”
Over the years, the team at Monto Neighbourhood Centre have worked hard to build trust and develop strong networks within the local community. This has paid off, and the Monto Neighbourhood Centre is now a pivotal part of the Monto community.
“Another big role of Monto Neighbourhood Centre is providing social connection for people who are at risk of disengagement,” says Monto Neighbourhood Centre Coordinator, Bobby Redgard.
LiveBetter’s Monto Neighbourhood Centre offers a range of services including youth support, meal delivery, social support groups, emergency relief, Centrelink services and hosting visiting services.
At LiveBetter, we’re proud of the difference the Monto Neighbourhood Centre has made to the local community, and we look forward to continuing to serve the communities of Monto and surrounds now and into the future.
