Celebrating Bill's Long Service

Ever heard the saying “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life?” For Bill Tucker, helping others achieve their goals and attaining a greater level of independence is a passion that has translated into a long-standing career as a Senior Support Worker at LiveBetter.

With 26 years’ experience working in Foster Care under his belt and diplomas in Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol, Community Service and Youth Work, it was his wealth of experience combined with his desire to pursue a career in the mental health industry that first led him to LiveBetter in 2008 and he’s never looked back.

“My time at LiveBetter has been incredibly rewarding, as I’ve watched my clients gain their independence and a voice of their own through my guidance” says Bill. “The relationships that you form with the clients and the satisfaction you gain from helping them reach their goals makes it all worthwhile. It’s why I’m still here!”

After 12 years in the role, Bill has no plans of changing careers or retiring anytime soon.

“I plan to continue working as long as I can. Every day is a new day and a chance to build better and more healthy relationships with my clients so they can achieve their goals”.

“There’s also a good work environment here at LiveBetter, which is important if you want a long and sustainable career in this field”.

When it comes to advice for those wanting to follow in his footsteps, Bill believes that empathy and a genuine passion for helping people maintain their individuality is key.

“The greatest advice I can give is to allow people to have their own independence and allow them to find their place in society,” says Bill. “It’s also important to keep an open mind, think outside square and be mindful of respecting others confidentiality”.
